About the Event
HOME IS NOW(HERE): A Reflection on Identity, Family, and Home
Presented as part of the API Cultural Center’s United States of Asian America Festival, this intimate and thought-provoking event will showcase the works of three contemporary Vietnamese artists reflecting on the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Each artist will perform new work exploring relationships to identity, family, and home, while engaging local residents and families in the Tenderloin, the historic refugee resettlement neighborhood and home of Little Saigon.

Featuring Performances By:
Trúc Nguyễn (@radiotruc) - Boat People, Chapter III: An audio-visual performance weaving radio techniques, interview tapes, music, and narration to tell the powerful stories of their parents’ escapes from Vietnam.
Trinh Lễ - Dear Plant Mother / Thưa Rau Má: A poetic dialogue with ancestors and mentors through dreams, accompanied by live-projected visual poetry.
Johnny Huy Nguyễn (@johnny.huy.nguyen) - BURN: An experimental dance solo confronting the legacies of war, displacement, and family trauma, transforming pain into growth and healing.
Plus! A free educational zine by Katie Quan (REALSOUL) will be available to attendees, providing further insight into the artists' works and their connections to current global events.
